Omar Abdullah government has already announced a CBI probe into the scam, the lid of which was blown off on August 21 when invigilators got suspicious about some candidates appearing in the MBBS/BDS entrance test of the Acharya Sri Chander College of Medical Sciences in Jammu, as their signatures did not match those on the original forms.

When the authorities rechecked the forms, there were at least seven candidates who were writing the test for others. The college got the impersonators arrested immediately and registered a case against the real candidates.

As per police, the impersonators were hired from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and brought to Jammu by Kunj Bihari, the kingpin who remains untraced. The detained are present in police remand.
