“On one hand the troops and police are continuing with the government sponsored genocide in Kashmir by killing innocent boys as young as eight while young kids and boys are being subjected to the worst kind of torture in custody under a conspiracy against the future of youth,” Mirwaiz said in a statement issued here.
Condemning the harassment of people in the recent phase of ‘crackdowns’ by troops and police during the holy month of Ramadan, Mirwaiz said despite being aware of its repercussions on the Kashmiri society the government is reviving the “renegade and Ikhwani culture” of the ‘90s. Mirwaiz said harassing people by subjecting them to identification parades during crackdowns in this holy month is a part of the same strategy. “The revival of reengadge culture by government is aimed at undermining the freedom movement by creating internal anarchy and civil war like situation,” Mirwaiz said.
Mirwaiz also appealed the civil society and media to play a positive role in countering the “ ongoing oppression”.
Earlier, Mirwaiz during an interaction with Sikh delegations reiterated that the Sikh community was the trust of the Muslims and assured full protection to the community...............( Curtsy ..PBI)
